Tenney: Passing Legislation Supporting Snowmobiles And Local Business

June 13, 2012
Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R,C,I-New Hartford) passed legislation in the Assembly to allow snowmobiles to cross a designated portion of State Route 8 in Deerfield, New York.

“New York State law prohibits recreational vehicles from using highways. Snowmobiling is a long-standing tradition in upstate New York, and permitting them to legally cross the highway benefits everyone. A designated crossing will allow for safer and more extensive snowmobile operation,” said Tenney.

“Many businesses in the area look forward to the income the snowmobile season brings, and allowing for more trail access will help grow the economy in our region. This is sensible legislation that permits locals and tourists to enjoy their recreational time and support local business without incurring any fees or dealing with government red tape,” said Tenney.
