O’Donnell Concludes His Annual Children’s Book Drive, Collecting Close to 2,400 Books

On Friday, Assembly Member O’Donnell handed over roughly 40 boxes filled with nearly 2,400 books to Project Cicero to conclude his 2014 Children’s Book Drive. This number shatters last year’s record of over 2,000 books. They will be distributed to under-resourced New York City public schools, as well as homeless shelters, community centers, juvenile detention facilities and pre- and after-school programs by Project Cicero, a not-for-profit partnership of city schools and organizations. Said O’Donnell:

I would like to thank my constituents for their generous donation of the nearly 2,400 books that have poured into my office in the past two months, as well as Project Cicero for their important work in distributing them to under-resourced schools, programs, and centers. This drive affirms our mutual belief in the key role that books play in the educational success of all children in New York City. I am pleased that we were able to break last year’s record, and I look forward to collecting even more books during next year’s drive.

As a member of the Education Committee, ensuring that all children have the resources they need to be successful in the classroom and beyond is one of Assembly Member O’Donnell’s top priorities.
