Statement from Assemblyman David Buchwald on Governor's Proposed Ethics Package
June 11, 2013
“Putting an end to corruption in state government is absolutely needed and long overdue. I don’t want to leave session without moving forward on significant steps to restore integrity and public trust in our government, and I believe the Assembly can work closely with the Governor and his proposals to do just that. I remain committed to serving Westchester families honorably and will fight to hold those public officials who break the law accountable.”
“Additionally, I have introduced my own legislation that would take away pension benefits from any state or local public official convicted of a felony where the public’s trust has been violated (A.7173). I promised that I wouldn’t stand for this type of behavior in our elected officials, and now is the time we need to act.”
