Assemblyman Buchwald’s Statement on Women’s Equality Act
June 20, 2013
“Women in New York State are still faced with economic barriers and inequities in everyday life, whether it’s in the workplace, in obtaining credit and lending, or in health care. The Women’s Equality Act legislation that passed today in the Assembly, and that I voted for, sends a strong message that we will not tolerate this type of discrimination. This important legislation will also protect the freedom of choice guaranteed by Roe v. Wade, and includes strengthening measures to help the victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.”
“To put it simply, women who do equal work deserve equal pay. I have been proud to stand with local organizations that have been fighting to ensure proper safety and equality for all women across the state.”
