New Study Shows New York Still Too Heavily Taxed

In light of a new study performed by The Tax Foundation and KPMG accounting firm, Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) is renewing his call to drastically reduce the tax burden placed on New Yorkers and their employers. Except for manufacturing, the report says New York ranks in the bottom 10 states for effective tax rates across numerous industries.

“START-UP NY isn’t going to shield businesses already in New York from these numbers,” DiPietro said. “New York cannot continue down the path of higher taxation and more regulation. We must deal with the reality that Albany’s economic model has failed and is driving jobs out of our state while preventing new businesses from growing. Businesses and the jobs they create will always move to environments where they can be fostered and grow without the forces of government and taxation. We have to learn from the success of other states instead of continuing with programs we know don’t work.”

Assemblyman David DiPietro is the Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Committee on Small Business and has owned and operated his own small business for nearly 25 years.
