Assemblyman Dave McDonough joins the 6th Grade class at Levy-Lakeside School.
Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) recently joined the sixth grade class at Levy-Lakeside School, where he read “One Green Apple” as part of the Community Read Aloud Celebration. The program promotes cultural diversity and understanding in schools.
“One Green Apple is the story of a student’s struggle to adjust to a new school and new country. The story delivers the message of tolerance, understanding and friendship in a way that is fun and inspiring,” said McDonough. “Today, we hear far too often of the bullying and other negative behaviors that occur in schools. One student’s remark, ‘we all look different, but we are all the same inside’, led to a heartwarming discussion about tolerance and acceptance.”
