Pets Are Family, Too!

A statement from Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick)

Yesterday, I joined with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano to announce a new Nassau SPCA program that offers free pet protection for victims of domestic violence who have fled to The Safe Center L.I. As a member of the County Executive’s Domestic Violence Task Force, I believe this will be a great program to assist victims of domestic violence who often don’t seek help because they don’t want to leave their pets behind. Victims of domestic violence can call The Safe Center Hotline at (516) 542-0404 for assistance regarding safety planning and shelter. The Nassau County SPCA will visit The Safe Center L.I. to pick up the pet(s) and bring them to a private facility and veterinarian care.
