National Agriculture Scholarships

There are many national scholarships available for high school seniors and college undergrads who are interested in studying agriculture at a college or university.

By offering scholarships for students who are interested in agricultural careers, we can continue to help promote our farms and preserve out farming tradition, while giving students the opportunity to get much-needed financial assistance for their education." - Assemblymember Didi Barrett

List of national scholarships available:

Daughters of American Agriculture Scholarships
Jean Ibendahl Scholarship: Ages 18-23
Sister Thomas More Bertels: Ages 24+;

Eligibility:

  • Must be a farmer, rancher or the wife, daughter or other close relative of a farmer, rancher or other person employed in agriculture (Women only).

  • Must have economic or financial need.

  • Knowledge of or work experience in agriculture.

  • Grade Point Average or placement on tests is considered. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition for recognized courses in agricultural leadership, technology, communications, education, rural sociology, medicine or other courses directly related to agriculture and the needs in agricultural communities.

  • Deadline: June 1

Farm Kids for College Scholarship:

  • Eligibility: Must be a high school senior intending to major in an agricultural field at an accredited college or university.

  • Deadline: March 7

National Farmers Union Foundation Stanley Moore Scholarship

  • $1,000 Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Open to Farmers Union members and their children. High school seniors, college students or non-traditional students seeking funding to attend a two or four year accredited college or university or technical school.

  • Deadline: April 15

National Farmers Union Foundation Hubert K. and JoAnn Seymour Scholarship

  • $1,000-$2,000 Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Open to all graduating high school seniors who are continuing their education in either a two-year or four-year accredited college or university for any area of study. Must be Farmers Union member.

  • Deadline: March 5

CHS Foundation High School Scholarship

  • $1,000 Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Must be a high school senior planning to pursue an agriculture-related major

  • Application information for the 2014/2015 academic year will be posted at the end of the year.

CHS Foundation 2-Year College Scholarship Program

  • $1,000 Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Student must be in his/her first year at a two-year college and must be enrolled in an agricultural program.

  • Application information for the 2014/2015 academic year will be posted at the end of the year.

American Agricultural Editors Association Scholarship

  • Four $1,000 Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Must be current members of ACT and enrolled as an undergraduate student at a university or college during the time of application

  • Deadline: late March

Dairy Farmers of America Scholarships

  • $1500 Scholarship

  • Eligibility: For students pursuing any aspect of the dairy industry, including herd management, nutrition, genetics or communications. Applicants must also be enrolled in or planning to attend a two- or four-year accredited college, university or trade school.

  • Deadline: January 15

DMI/National Dairy Shrine Milk Marketing Scholarship

  • Scholarships: $1,000-$1,500

  • Eligibility: For students planning a career in dairy product marketing.

  • Deadline: April 15
