Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) announced the winners of his Mother's Day Essay & Poetry Contest for students in grades one through five:
• 1st Grade Grand Prize award: Grace Liu, who attends PS 21: Edward Hart School in Flushing.
• 2nd Grade Grand Prize award: Eric Samson, who attends St. Andrew Avellino School in Flushing.
• 3rd Grade Grand Prize award: Savannah Sclafani, who attends Sacred Heart School in Bayside.
• 4th Grade Grand Prize award: Sean Flynn, who attends St. Mel's School in Flushing.
• 5th Grade Grand Prize award: Chris Georgiadis, who attends PS 209: Clearview Gardens School in Whitestone.
"Congratulations to all of the winners. Nearly 500 students from schools in Queens participated in my Mother's Day Essay & Poetry Contest and I was very impressed with their creative and heartfelt entries," said Assemblyman Braunstein.
