NYSDOT to Install First “Share the Road Sign” to Improve Bicyclist Safety on Bike Route 9

In an effort to promote bicyclist safety and enhance awareness among cyclists of safer routes to travel, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will be installing the first in a series of high visibility signage on Route 9W in the Rockland County Towns of Clarkstown and Orangetown. The signs will direct cyclists to the much safer Bike Route 9. The signage will also remind motorists to drive with care and be alert for bicyclists who share this busy highway.

The first signage will be installed August 13th at 12pm on 9W at Tappan Zee Elementary School, 561 Rte. 9W, Piermont.

Acting Regional Director of NYSDOT Bill Gorton, and Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, will be joined by elected and law enforcement officials to answer questions.
