(Albany, NY) – Assemblyman Felix W. Ortiz (Brooklyn) was very pleased to learn that Sunday night a team of US Naval SEALs entered Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan and killed our Nation’s greatest public enemy. The Assemblyman offers his congratulations to our Nations Leaders, President Obama, the CIA, and the hard working members of our Nation’s military. “Osama bin Laden’s death marks a great victory for the United States. This victory will offer closure to numerous families throughout New York State, our Country, and even the world,” stated Assemblyman Ortiz, “We must, however, remain vigilant in our fight on terror. We have cut off the head of this snake but we must be prepared to combat whoever steps into Osama’s shoes.” In the nearly ten years since the September 11th attacks on our nation, finding Osama bin Laden has been a top priority. “Our State, a State which has been so deeply wounded by the plans and actions of this evil man, can truly rejoice in his demise. Many of our children have joined the military in the hopes of aiding the hunt for Osama. Their efforts have not been in vain,” said Ortiz, “I congratulate our service men and women on their courage, bravery, and perseverance in this fight to bring down Al Qaeda’s leader,” continued the Assemblyman. The Assemblyman thoughts and prayers remain with the families who have lost a loved one during the terrorist attacks or in Afghanistan and Iraq. “We will never forget the sacrifices of these individuals,” stated Ortiz.
