“In an effort to help Hudson Valley seniors afford the prescription drugs they depend on, I helped include $30 million for the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) program in the 2012-13 state budget. This vital funding restoration will bring back co-payment assistance, allowing seniors on EPIC to pay no more than a $20 co-payment for each prescription drug.
“As a representative for our community, I have an obligation to protect our most vulnerable citizens. With the cost of living continuing to climb, seniors don’t need one more financial burden to worry about. The money that we restored in the final budget will go a long way in helping seniors afford the medicines they so badly need, and it will be a welcome relief to seniors on fixed incomes.”
