Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (R, I, C – Sag Harbor) is arguably our state’s most dedicated legislator. In fact, during the 2007 Legislative Session, the Assemblyman had a 100 percent attendance record and voted on every bill that came to the Assembly floor. That’s over 1,700 votes.
“The people of Suffolk elected me to represent them and because this is a job I love, I take the responsibilities of this position very seriously,” said Thiele.
With some Assembly members’ attendance record at a dismal 68 percent, meaning they missed at least 400 votes, Thiele’s 100 percent attendance record leads the pack of his 150 Assembly colleagues. Included in this impressive voting history, are the Assemblyman’s votes which helped to create crucial public safety initiatives, such as, the Sex Offender Management and Treatment Law, increased funding for Suffolk County schools to record amounts as well as enacted measures to protect your children’s health through creation of the Healthy Schools Act. Thiele also voted to reduce the cost of gasoline, protect coastal homeowners, reinstate the property tax rebate check, and expand this much needed tax relief to the state’s middle class.
These measures continue to top the Assemblyman’s 2008 agenda. “We must cut taxes, without compromising our schools and the local services which keep Suffolk neighborhoods among the safest in the state. I will continue to stand up for the people of Suffolk every day to ensure their voices are heard,” said Thiele.
