Spitzer Resigns: Paterson To Take Office Monday
March 12, 2008
“Eliot Spitzer has done the right thing by relinquishing his role in state government. My heart goes out to his family and they will continue to be in my thoughts as they begin the next chapter in their private lives.
As sad as this event is, today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of New Yorkers as well. I must applaud my colleagues for coming together during this difficult time and continuing to do the people’s work – especially in regards to the state budget. I am hopeful that under Governor Paterson’s leadership, both sides of the aisle will continue to come together in order to promote integrity and effective governance that fosters a better future for the 18 million people of our state. I offer him my cooperation.”
