As the Ranking Republican member on the Assembly Education Committee Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (R, I, C – Sag Harbor) was appointed to represent the Assembly Republicans during this year’s budget negotiations. Pictured above, Thiele attends a hearing of the Joint Budget Conference Committee on Education held today in Albany.

With the budget deadline approaching, midnight on Monday, Thiele plans to work throughout the weekend in order to ensure the State Budget is passed on time and delivers the education aid and tax relief that Long Islanders need. The Assemblyman is especially adamant that the budget contain increased High Tax Aid and Supplemental Excess Cost Aid for areas of Long Island, such as on the East End. During the Assembly’s budget negotiations, Thiele was a leading advocate for this funding.
