Governor Lets Down New York Homeowners
Statement by Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (R,I,C,WF-Sag Harbor)
January 15, 2009
Yesterday, Governor Paterson released his 30-day amendments to the 2009-10 Executive Budget. I am deeply disappointed that the property tax cap was not included in these amendments. As one of the original supporters of a property tax cap, I was encouraged when the governor repeatedly pledged that he would back the implementation of a cap, but, unfortunately, he has yet to act on this support in any official manner. I will continue to fight for the property tax cap and I have hope that we will pass such a measure to relieve New Yorkers of high taxes.
