Finch: Create Jobs, Not Increase Spending
Says budget does not do enough to combat unemployment
January 19, 2010
Unemployment numbers are reaching historic levels in New York, and I am sad to say that this year’s budget proposal does not do nearly enough to create jobs and instill life into our struggling economy. Yes, the budget does take some small steps toward financial responsibility, but if we are to dig ourselves out of recession, we must drastically cut spending.
Furthermore, struggling taxpayers will be faced with yet another round of tax and fee increases, to the tune of an additional $1 billion. These taxes, such as an increased fee on soft drinks, for example, will work to further burden the hard-working middle class.
