Finch Pleased That New Yorkers Will Pick Next Attorney General

A statement by Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I-Springport)
May 22, 2018

“Barbara Underwood is the consummate professional. Her experience –she was the first woman to hold the position of solicitor general of the U.S. and has argued twenty cases before the Supreme Court – is unimpeachable. This critically important office is in capable hands for the first time in seven years.

“From the outset of this process, I’ve maintained that it’s important that the interim attorney general not seek a new term in November. The people should choose. I don’t believe the state’s top law enforcement official should be anointed in a backroom deal. After Eric Schneiderman failed to effectively investigate an administration whose signature development programs have been compromised by graft, bid-rigging and bribery, I’m glad New Yorkers will have an opportunity to go to the polls in November and choose a candidate who is truly independent from this governor.”
