Assemblymember Harry B. Bronson Helped Pass Measure to Save Local Governments Money
March 29, 2012
“In an effort to ease the financial burden on local governments, I supported a measure in the final 2012-13 budget that allows county clerks to take a portion of the fees collected online from state DMV transactions. Currently, the county clerk only collects fees from DMV transactions done in person – if the transaction is done online, the state collects the entire fee.
“This current method short changes local governments. During a time when more and more transactions are occurring online rather than in person, allowing county clerks to receive a portion of these transactions will provide some relief to local governments.”
