No, the Saratoga track season is not here yet, but residents of the Ballston Spa School District are virtually walking to the Saratoga Race track and to other New York landmarks as they race towards the July 30 finish of the Ballston Spa Walk for Health Challenge.
The challenge began on May 28 at the Assemblyman Jim Tedisco Fitness Trail, which originates in Ballston Spa. Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady-Saratoga) and village Mayor John Romano have partnered with Saratoga on the Move, Ballston Spa National Bank and McDonald’s to promote healthy lifestyles by challenging residents to keep track of their daily miles walked and to add to their regular walking routine.
"I know that we all have busy lives, but we can’t enjoy the fruits of our labor if we’re not healthy and fit," said Tedisco. "This is just a friendly reminder to residents in the Ballston Spa School District to keep walking so they can join us at our Walk for Health celebration and wellness fair."
At the culmination of the Walk for Health Challenge, the program sponsors are hosting a wellness fair on July 30 at Wiswall Park in the village of Ballston Spa. The event will feature a raffle for challenge participants, a farmers’ market and representatives from various organizations focusing on health issues.
