Tedisco Supports Business Coalition Agenda To Make New York Affordable

Statement from Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady/Saratoga)
May 18, 2009
“We all know that times are tough. The economy is struggling, unemployment is growing and people are being forced to do more with less. Yet, it seems state government continues to work against us with more taxes, more spending and no reform. We need a change!

That is why today I am proud to stand with business coalition members, including The Business Council, NFIB and Unshackle Upstate, in charting an agenda that will make New York affordable again. We are demanding that a series of common-sense solutions be acted upon before the end of the legislative session in June so that we can limit government spending and provide long overdue property tax relief. The Governor and leaders in the state Legislature must act now to implement a state spending cap, a property tax cap as well as mandate relief, government consolidation proposals and Tier V pension reform.

These proposals can help put our economy back on track while offering enough relief to keep businesses and families here in the Empire State. Over the years, my Conference and I have fought for these ideas; they are long overdue and must be enacted now.”
