Tedisco: “The Assembly Majority In Taxland: A Fairytale Budget”

Statement from Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady-Saratoga), Former Assembly Minority Leader and Current Assistant Minority Whip
March 15, 2011
“The Assembly Majority’s one-house budget that increases taxes by over $4 billion isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. Instead of adhering to the Governor’s message of fiscal discipline and tax relief, the Majority is advancing an irresponsible spending plan that will continue to drive more jobs, more businesses and more people out of our state.”

“You can call the revenue enhancements in the budget a surcharge, fee or even a pickle, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, in New York, it’s got to be a tax. Even former State Comptroller H. Carl McCall has joined the chorus in a non- partisan effort to say that New York taxes and spends too much.”

“If you wrote a children’s story about it, it would be called ‘The Assembly Majority in Taxland: A Fairytale Budget’ because only in storybooks do you see such fantasy.”
