Corwin Works To Spotlight Western New York Women
April 14, 2010

Assemblywoman Jane L. Corwin (R, C, I – Clarence) this week met with Brigid Doherty of Western New York Women’s Fund and Anna Oliveira of the New York Women’s Foundation to discuss ways to further promote women and women’s issues across the state.
“In communities across our state, especially in Western New York, women are often the heads of the household and responsible for the financial well-being of the family. Our economy and success as a community depends on the success of these women and I am pleased to be partnering with both of these wonderful organizations toward that shared goal,” said Assemblywoman Corwin.
Some of the issues discussed included the importance of education, job-training and skill development and beginning that process as early as possible. Both organizations operate thousands of programs for women and girls, in partnership with volunteers and organizations like the United Way, as well as conduct research and develop policy initiatives.
