Corwin Votes Against Irresponsible Budget
A Statement from Assemblywoman Jane Corwin (R,C,I-Clarence)
July 1, 2010
The bottom line here is that this budget spends too much and increases already unsustainable taxes, including property taxes. This budget does not help create a healthy, sustainable revenue source for our state in the future and does not help put people back to work – in fact, proposals in this plan are already luring employers to neighboring states, such as the hedge fund investors now looking to relocate to Connecticut. Furthermore, the dysfunctional process by which this budget was created, one piece at a time, has legislators, as well as the state Comptroller, still in the dark about the total impact this budget will have in the months, years and even generations to come. It is irresponsible to support such a proposal.
