Over the past month, residents of Erie and Niagara County have donated over 750 pounds of food that will feed over 200 families in Western New York. Erie and Niagara County local libraries, as well as the Assemblywoman’s office, participated as drop-off locations for the donations.
“I am thrilled that this food drive continues to grow every year. We were able to top last year’s donation amount by a few hundred pounds,” said Corwin. “It says a lot about our community because we have compassion and selflessness. It’s the people of Western New York that make this such a wonderful place to live.”
Assemblywoman Corwin delivered the donations to three locations in the area including the Akron Food Pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Newfane First Baptist Church and the Newfane Community Food Pantry at St. Brendan’s on the Lake.
“Unfortunately, after the holiday season is over, donations become less frequent at many food pantries. I am very thankful to everyone who was gracious enough to donate; every little bit helped and will go a long way in feeding families and children that are in need,” said the assemblywoman. “I would also like to thank the local food banks for all of their hard work, and a special thank you to all of the libraries and staff that allowed us to use their locations as collection sites.”
