Duprey Announces Over $200,000 In State Grants To Support The Arts In The North Country

August 15, 2007
Assemblywoman Janet Duprey (R,I,C-Peru) today announced over $200,000 in state grants for local arts programs in the North Country. The grants, from the New York Council on the Arts, will support workshops and presentations as well as provide for general operating support.

With the use of state grants, the New York State Council on the Arts works to promote the arts and its role in American culture. The council also supports the creation, presentation, critical review and distribution of the arts by broadening public access, appreciation, participation and education.

“I am very excited to announce these grants that will help enrich the lives of every North Country resident,” said Assemblywoman Duprey. “It is especially important at a time when donations to the arts are in short supply, that we do everything possible to continue to support great cultural programs,” concluded Duprey.

This year’s grants will be distributed to the following organizations:

Adirondack Center for Writing - $23,100
Akwesasne Cultural Center, Inc. - $25,000
North Country Cultural Center for the Arts - $129,000
Lake Placid Sinfonietta, Inc. - $8,500
Pendragon, Inc - $17,000
