Glick said, “I was very pleased to be invited by Assemblywoman Janet Duprey to tour the SUNY colleges in her district. Each school impressed me with the dedication of professors and administrators and, most importantly, the terrific students who are committed to their education and future pursuits. Each school presented unique opportunities that struck me as having a handle on the educational needs of the region.”
“It was a pleasure to welcome Deborah Glick, the chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, and take her on a tour of SUNY Plattsburgh. I want to thank Janet Duprey, our local assemblyperson and member of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, for arranging the visit. I think the two state representatives went away with a better understanding of how vital SUNY Plattsburgh is to the residents of the North Country and the State of New York,” said John Ettling, President of SUNY Plattsburgh.
“North Country Community College administrators toured Assemblywoman Deborah Glick and Assemblywoman Janet Duprey through its Saranac Lake campus. Our state legislators learned about the 1,100 area high school students enrolled in college credit-bearing classes. Demonstrations included radiological examinations, computer productivity, students practicing investigative techniques, designing nature preserves, planning and packing for a future ‘expedition’, and exploring trends in family development. The tour of facilities was capped with the state legislators meeting the athletic department staff and student Steven Carder, the NCCC’s 1st Team All-American in men’s basketball,” said Dr Steven Tyrell, President of North Country Community College.
“I am so grateful that Janet Duprey was able to facilitate a visit by the chair of the Assembly Committee on Higher Education. It was clear to me that Chairwoman Glick appreciates the positive impact that our programs have on the lives of people and on the regional economy. We are lucky to have our local assembly member on the Committee on Higher Education. She knows that many, many lives have changed for the better because of Clinton Community College,” said John E. Jablonski, President of Clinton Community College.
Duprey said “I am very proud of our outstanding SUNY colleges, and it was a privilege to share our colleges’ uniqueness and collaborative relationships with Assemblywoman Glick, who is a passionate advocate of our State University system. The tours finished Friday afternoon on the veranda of Clinton Community College, where President Jablonski provided a brief history of the College and the Battle of Plattsburgh. Sharing the million dollar view of Valcour Island and Lake Champlain was a great ending to a successful tour.”
