Ceretto Co-Sponsored Bill Becomes Law
New Law Will Help Save Villages Money
February 28, 2011

Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) today announced that legislation he co-sponsored (A.3093B) was signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo this afternoon. The law will save villages in Western New York money by exempting them from costly new voting machine requirements by allowing villages throughout the state to use lever voting machines for their elections.

“I am ecstatic to have my first co-sponsored bill signed into law two months into my first session,” Ceretto said. “More importantly, this law will save money for villages across Western New York and is a first step toward eliminating other unfunded mandates that Albany places on local governments and property taxpayers.”

The new law will help villages save money on training and maintenance by allowing village governments to use the cost-effective and highly reliable lever-action voting machines during village elections to ensure affordable, reliable, and fair village elections.
