Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) tonight released the following statement regarding his vote on the first round of the 2011-12 state budget:
“Tonight, I voted in favor of the transportation, economic development and environmental conservation portion of the budget because it consolidates state agencies and will help to create jobs by authorizing the Recharge NY program, a permanent extension to the popular Power for Jobs initiative, which provides low-cost power to businesses so that they can create more jobs. Recharge NY also will leverage the unique hydropower of Western New York to help us meet the challenges of a changing economy by providing low-cost power.
“Tonight’s portion of the budget will not only provide affordable power to residents and businesses, it also will decrease the size and cost of state government through agency consolidations, a win-win for overburdened taxpayers and businesses alike.”
