Assemblyman John Ceretto (R, I – Lewiston) announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is now accepting applications for scholarships that will be awarded in June at their annual conference weekend.
Each year, the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators awards four $1,500 scholarships (two academic and two athletic) to eligible high school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate students from around the state. Eligibility is based on the student’s grade-point average, interest in pursuing a higher education, involvement in the local community as well as their individual financial need. Assemblyman Ceretto will select one applicant from each category to submit from his Assembly District as part of the Conference’s final statewide selection process.
“I encourage all students from Niagara County to apply for this scholarship,” Ceretto said. “Times are tough and it’s important that students are given numerous opportunities to help them pay for their higher education without having to take on enormous amounts of debt.”
Applications can be obtained by contacting Assemblyman Ceretto’s district office at 716-282-6062, or by visiting the office at 1700 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Completed applications must be received by April 29 at the Albany office, LOB 527, Albany, NY 12248, or his district office in Niagara Falls.
