Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) is pleased to announce that upcoming construction on a Seneca Street entrance ramp onto the Robert Moses Parkway is scheduled for completion prior to the season opening at Earl W. Brydges Artpark. The ramp will be used to mitigate traffic congestion following performances at the Artpark in the Village of Lewiston. Earlier this year, Assemblyman Ceretto urged the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the Department of Transportation to expedite the project to ensure that the ramp will be ready for the summer concerts.
“I am pleased that this long-awaited ramp project will begin in earnest, and I’m sure the surrounding community will welcome the ramp being completed before the beginning of the summer concert season,” Ceretto said. “The ramp will help improve traffic safety while enhancing the quality of life for local residents.”
Senator George Maziarz (R, C – Newfane), who also advocated for the project, was equally pleased with the decision to construct a Seneca Street entrance ramp onto the Robert Moses Parkway.
“On many occasions, concert attendance exceeds 10,000 individuals causing Center Street, the village’s main thoroughfare, to become bottlenecked with traffic as much of the outbound traffic depends on the use of one parkway on-ramp,” said Maziarz. “The construction of the ramp will help mitigate the enormous traffic issues and safety concerns which follow concerts at the venue.”
“The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s decision to connect Seneca Street in the Village of Lewiston to the Robert Moses Parkway for Artpark traffic is great news for our area,” said Village of Lewiston Mayor Terry Collesano. “I would like to thank Senator George Maziarz and Assemblyman John Ceretto for reaching out to state authorities in order to help get this important project moving forward.”
Assemblyman Ceretto noted the Town and Village of Lewiston have cooperatively sought to bring this project to fruition.
“The shows at Artpark provide a tremendous positive economic impact to the Village of Lewiston but concertgoers leaving events have been bottlenecked until now,” Ceretto said. “Once this ramp project is finished it will help alleviate ongoing traffic problems in the surrounding neighborhoods, making concerts more enjoyable for concertgoers and residents alike.”
According to Artpark & Company, an estimated 230,000 people attended events at the venue last summer.
