Ceretto: Ethics Bill Will Help Restore Accountability To State Government
June 13, 2011

Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) tonight released the following statement regarding his vote to pass the Public Integrity Act of 2011:

“Since taking office, I have spoken with many people throughout Niagara County who expressed their frustration with the corruption, backroom deals and lack of transparency in Albany. By enhancing financial oversight, implementing new restrictions on donations, creating a Commission on Public Ethics and implementing strict penalties for those who betray the public’s trust, this bill goes a long way toward restoring accountability to state government.

“Reforming Albany is an important step in the process of fundamentally changing how business is done in our state. Moving forward, we also must provide tax relief to struggling Western New York families and create a more business-friendly atmosphere that will attract companies to the state and help put New Yorkers back to work.

“Most importantly, with numerous political scandals fresh in the minds of citizens, this bill will help restore their faith in state government.”
