Ceretto: Higher Ed Investment Bill Signed Into Law
August 9, 2011

Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) today released the following statement regarding the signing of SUNY 2020 into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Ceretto, who helped pass the Assembly version of the legislation, noted that the bill is designed to enhance investments in the state’s university, create jobs through public-private partnerships and establish a rational tuition policy.

“The signing of SUNY 2020 into law is a major bipartisan victory for Niagara County and Western New York. This was the top legislative priority for me and the Western New York Legislative Delegation, and a win-win for our Buffalo-Niagara community,” said Ceretto. “The bill provides students and parents with the increased security of planning for predictable and fair school costs, while allowing our universities to make greater investments in their students and the surrounding community.

“These investments will help grow jobs through the establishment of public-private partnerships, partnerships that will help make several universities throughout the state, including the University at Buffalo, flagship centers for research and development.”
