January 20, 2012
Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) today released the following statement regarding his optimism about the Nik Wallenda event going forward following talks between Mr. Wallenda and Michael Chan, Ontario’s minister of tourism:
“I am encouraged by the ongoing dialogue between the Wallenda camp and Canadian officials, including a call from Ontario’s tourism minister, Michael Chan, for a second meeting with the Parks Commission. I am hopeful that we will soon receive news that the Canadians have approved the event. Mr. Wallenda is a highly trained professional, and all safety precautions are being taken to ensure that this global event, which will be an economic boon to our region, goes off without a hitch.”
