Assemblyman John D. Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) today recommended Renae Kimble, former Niagara County Legislator, for a vacancy on the Niagara Falls Water Board. Kimble retired this January after several decades of public service to the City of Niagara Falls.
“Renae Kimble has been a pioneer and trailblazer in Niagara Falls,” said Ceretto. “She is extraordinarily qualified for a spot on the Water Board. During her years in government she has reviewed and negotiated contracts, managed large budgets, worked with labor unions and always maintained the unwavering confidence of her constituents. I have no doubt that she would excel at the Water Board and the organization would be lucky to have her.”
Ceretto today sent a letter to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver asking that Ms. Kimble be considered for the position. The correspondence acknowledges Kimble’s strong record as a Niagara County Legislator, her roles as risk manager for the City of Niagara Falls, professor, as well as other private- and public-sector endeavors.
As a member of the Niagara Falls Water Board, Renae Kimble will work to provide safe and reliable water and wastewater management services to the community in an economical and efficient manner.
The Niagara Falls Water Board consists of five members, with the mayor of Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls City Council, the state Senate, the state Assembly and the Governor’s office appointing one member each.
Below is the letter Assemblyman Ceretto sent to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver urging him to appoint Renae Kimble to the Niagara Falls Water Board.
January 13, 2012
Dear Speaker Silver,
I write you today to strongly recommend the appointment of former Niagara County Legislator Renae Kimble to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Niagara Falls Water Board. As you know, the board consists of five members, one each appointed by the New York State Assembly, Senate, the Governor’s office, the Niagara Falls mayor and the Niagara Falls City Council.
It is my opinion that Ms. Kimble is impeccably qualified for this position, with many years of service as a County Legislator, City of Niagara Falls risk manager and, in addition, has enjoyed a productive private-sector career. In these capacities she has a firm understanding of budgetary practice, labor negotiations, contract review, public service and legal expertise.
In addition to Ms. Kimble’s professional qualifications, she has been a trailblazer and pioneer for women and African-Americans in the City of Niagara Falls. As an 18-year legislator, Ms. Kimble is the longest-serving woman ever to hold a seat on the Niagara County Legislature and served as the first chairwoman of the Women’s Legislative Caucus. Her advocacy also led to the hiring of a City of Niagara Falls Equal Employment Opportunity Commission officer.
For your convenience I am including Ms. Kimble’s resume, a list of references and a biography which features her dynamic role in the City of Niagara Falls over the years. I trust you will find her to be very qualified and well respected.
Should you have any questions, or desire to consult my office, please do not hesitate to contact me at my Albany office at 455-5284 or my district office by dialing 716-282-6062. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
John D. Ceretto
