Ceretto: Recharge NY Helping Local Businesses
April 25, 2012

Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) today announced that several area businesses and nonprofit organizations will be awarded the first round of lower-cost power allocations under the ReCharge NY (RNY) program, which Assemblyman Ceretto helped vote into law last year.

“ReCharge NY is an important job-creation-and-retention tool that makes New York a more attractive place to do business,” said Ceretto. “From supporting job growth throughout our region’s healthcare and manufacturing sectors, to reducing energy costs for nonprofits, allowing them to better serve our community, ReCharge NY will help to revamp our economy one megawatt of power at a time.”

Local businesses and nonprofits receiving low-cost power under ReCharge NY include:

  • Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center
  • Norampac Ind., Inc.-Niagara Falls Division
  • Young Woman’s Christian Association of Niagara, Inc.
  • Mount St. Mary’s Hospital of Niagara Falls
  • Precious Plate, Inc.

Under the law, the New York Power Authority Board of Trustees approved the allocations totaling nearly 600 megawatts to 517 enterprises across New York in return for their retention of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in capital investments. The power will be available July 1, as provided for under the RNY legislation.
