Ceretto Announces Over $450K For Local Libraries
May 4, 2012

Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) is pleased to announce that the Nioga Library System will receive over $450,000 in construction grants to support the continued efforts of local public libraries to educate and enlighten. The grants are supported by a $14 million capital fund appropriation in the 2011 state budget, which Assemblyman Ceretto helped pass.

Local public libraries receiving grants include:

  • $8,325 for energy-efficient projects at the Niagara Falls Public Library;
  • $26,903 for renovations, upgrades and modifications at the Nioga Library System building located at 6575 Wheeler Road in Lockport;
  • $8,945 for renovations to increase usable space and book capacity at the Youngstown Free Library; and
  • $11,174 for energy-efficient projects at the Middleport Free Library.

"Supporting local libraries should be a priority if we are to help educate the next generation of New Yorkers," said Ceretto. "These grants will help provide the funding needed to reduce energy waste at libraries, reduce the tax burden on local residents, and also make them more accessible for seniors and those with disabilities. I was proud to secure these grants.
