Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,I-Lewiston) today reflected on the Legislature’s accomplishments over the past two sessions and urged his colleagues to remain focused on creating jobs and improving New York’s business climate.
“Over the past two years, the Legislature and Governor Cuomo have achieved a number of victories in the fight to reform Albany and make our great state a more affordable place to live and own a business,” said Ceretto. “We also have begun to rebuild Western New York’s economy, and I am pleased that I could do my part in helping to secure over $1 billion in economic development funding to spur job creation.”
To grow local jobs, Assemblyman Ceretto led the fight to reduce regulations on businesses, such as repealing the wasteful employer-notification requirement. He intends to continue the fight to repeal unfunded state mandates and reduce their impact on job creators.
“In New York we have too many bureaucrats and too few entrepreneurs thanks to unfunded mandates,” said Ceretto. “These burdensome regulations, combined with one of the least-friendly business climates in the country, have reduced opportunities and hurt Western New Yorkers by driving up operating costs and driving down companies’ ability to hire. This must change.
“I would like to see a New York where business is booming,” said Ceretto. “We have taken the first steps in helping businesses and creating jobs, but more must be done. I look forward to continue fighting to ensure that Western New York reaches its brighter future.”
