Borelli: Property Tax Reassessment Crucial For Sandy Victims
Statement from Assemblyman Joe Borelli (R,C,I – South Shore)
February 4, 2013
Today, the Assembly passed the Hurricane Sandy Assessment Relief Act, a bill I was pleased to act as a sponsor. This is bill is a good step, but more still needs to be done to help the majority of affected homeowners in my district.
The Act will allow the victims of this horrible natural disaster to have their property values reassessed since the storm’s damage and put some extra money back in their pockets. After such traumatizing events, the government shouldn’t be profiting off the suffering of its citizens. I hope the Hurricane Sandy Assessment Relief Act will provide some necessary financial help so Staten Island families can rebuild their homes and lives, and look forward to a brighter tomorrow.
