Borelli To Host College Financial Aid Seminar
February 15, 2013

Assemblyman Joe Borelli (R,C,I – South Shore) announced that he will be hosting a seminar on financial aid opportunities for students planning to enter college. The event will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish; financial aid officers and bursars from the College of Staten Island and the State University of New York (SUNY) will be available to answer questions related to potential aid packages for any student as well as specific tuition questions for the CUNY and SUNY systems.

“Since the advancement of DREAM Act legislation in the Assembly, my office has been contacted by numerous people essentially saying they’re unhappy with financial aid options for all people,” said Borelli. “I hope this helps a little bit.”

“Higher education is a critical choice for students and their parents alike,” continued Assemblyman Borelli. “Few concerns factor into that choice more than cost. As someone who worked two jobs to make sure my parents and I could make the bills, I know how financial aid packages can make all the difference.”

Assemblyman Borelli is a graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie and earned a Master’s Degree from the College of Staten Island where he is an adjunct political science professor.

“So many young professionals today enter the workforce with mountains of debt,” continued Borelli. “Families have to make informed choices, and I’m glad to be partnering with the College of Staten Island to help prospective and aspiring college students understand the benefits available to them.”

The event will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013, at 7 p.m. and will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 5411 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10312.

RSVP’s may be sent by e-mail to assemblymanborelli@gmail.com or called in to 718-967-5194.
