Giglio Comments on Governor’s Budget Proposal

Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,C,I-Gowanda) today issued the following statement regarding Gov. George Pataki’s 2006-07 executive budget:

“I am happy to share with you that Gov. Pataki is proposing a budget that fosters economic growth and reduces taxes for all New Yorkers. Promoting economic development, job creation and reducing the tax burden are the top priorities I share with many of my Assembly colleagues for the 2006 legislative session. I look forward to working to pass pro-family tax cuts that would give families in the Southern Tier more financial freedom and formulate pro-job tax reforms that would abolish inequitable parts of our tax code that deter businesses from locating to our state, and create new jobs.

“At the same time, a new funding proposal from the governor would mean the general public would be further protected from sexual predators through civil confinement by providing almost $27 million in operating support to house and treat sexually violent predators after their prison sentences are finished. I am leading the charge in Albany to make sure our children and families are safe at home and in our schools.”
