Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,I,C-Gowanda) is reminding citizens to file a STAR Local Property Tax Rebate application with the State Department of Taxation and Finance if they believe they are eligible for the rebate but have not yet received a check.
The deadline to file has been extended to January 22nd.
Each application needs to be certified by the local assessor in each town. For this reason, Assemblyman Giglio is directing constituents to contact their assessor’s office directly.
“We want to make sure all eligible citizens receive this much-needed relief,” said Giglio. “The rebates are a good start towards delivering long-term property tax reform in order to keep hard-earned tax dollars in the hands of homeowners, where it belongs.”
According to the Department of Taxation and Finance, over 3.3 million eligible homeowners have been sent a STAR rebate check since October.
Giglio is encouraging constituents to contact his Olean district office at (716) 373-7103 with any additional questions.
