Giglio: Consensus Reached On Plan to Reopen Center Street Bridge

February 8, 2008
“Today’s meeting of representatives of the Seneca Nation of Indians with federal, state, and local officials to devise a plan to reopen the Center Street Bridge in a safe and timely manner was highly successful. The closing of the Rte. 353/Center Street Bridge places enormous strain on residents and businesses in the City of Salamanca as well as surrounding communities, who now face long detours. I am confident that the successful outcome of today’s meeting will get the ball rolling on this project and vehicles moving on the bridge soon. I am particularly hopeful that emergency vehicles will soon be able to use this bridge to provide residents with prompt responses during times of need. I look forward to working closely with federal, state and local officials and the Seneca Nation to ensure that this project is completed in a timely and safe manner.”
