Assemblyman Lentol Oversees Removal of Tree Limbs in McGolrick Park
August 21, 2013
Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol (D-North Brooklyn) today oversaw extensive tree trimmings that occurred in McGolrick Park. Earlier this month Assemblyman Lentol wrote a letter to Commissioner Veronica White, of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, requesting that the tree stock throughout the five boroughs be surveyed to ensure the integrity of the trees.
Within the past year there have been countless injuries relating to falling tree branches, one of which ended in a fatality.
“Even though more needs to be done, this is a great start for the neighborhood and the City,” Lentol said. “I applaud Commissioner Veronica White and Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey for their swift action in addressing the safety of these trees. The integrity of many trees was affected by Hurricane Sandy and we must take the necessary precautions to prevent any future injuries.
