Assemblyman Saladino Supports “New Edison Project”
March 9, 2006
Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino (R,C,I-Massapequa) today announced a new proposal designed to inspire high school and college students to consider careers in math or science. “The New Edison Project is a great way to influence a new generation of leaders in the math and science fields in New York State,” said Saladino.
Saladino said that while New York State schools are among the best in the nation, children are struggling with math and science. He noted that the plan would create new and enhanced college and high school curricula designed to nurture future engineers and scientists.
The project will also encourage the business community to become involved in funding courses and specialized projects for schools statewide.
“This proposal is a great way to encourage New York’s students to become actively engaged in the fields of math and science, and also to ensure that New York continues to remain at the head of the class when it comes to being a leader in science and technology,” Saladino said.
