Assemblyman Saladino Outraged By Budget Process, Opposes New and Increased Taxes
Statement from Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino
March 26, 2009
I want to make it clear that I strongly oppose an increase in sales tax, the more than 140 proposed new taxes, and oppose an MTA payroll tax on any Long Island business, school district, library, municipality, special district or not-for-profit agency. Many of the tax increases would not be needed if the state would cut back on its spending and cut, close or streamline its unneeded or outdated commissions and public authorities, as well as many other consolidation efforts which I have proposed.
