Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino today announced that he will be hosting a free Car Seat Safety Check to help ensure that children are safe and secure when riding in a vehicle. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Westfield Sunrise Mall in the Northeast corner parking lot behind Sears.
“Our children are very precious to us and having them properly secured in a vehicle is extremely important to minimize the dangers of an accident, including serious injuries and even death,” said Assemblyman Saladino, noting that, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately seven out of ten children are improperly restrained. “We offer this to the public because it is important that parents receive proper instruction in order to keep their children and young passengers safe.”
This event is free for everyone and will provide information and direction on how to properly install car seats, secure your child, and other car seat safety tips and precautions. Appointments for this event are appreciated; all interested participants are urged to contact Assemblyman Saladino’s District Office at (516) 844-0635 for more information.
“This will be a great opportunity for parents. I encourage everyone to attend and tell their friends and neighbors to attend and have their car seats checked for proper installation,” stated Assemblyman Saladino. “I hope to see you there!”
