Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush yesterday presented Sandy Creek Central School with a proclamation from the New York State Assembly in honor of the school’s New York Statewide and Regional Employer Recognition Award.

Sandy Creek was recognized among all state employers and agencies for hiring Joshua Ward, a former Sandy Creek student with developmental disabilities, and for nurturing Josh’s skills and talents, making him a better employee.

Below is the text of the Proclamation:

In honor of

Joshua Ward & Sandy Creek School District

recipients of the Statewide and Regional Employer Recognition Award

Whereas, the state of New York believes in cultivating the talents of all its citizens to lead successful and prosperous lives; and

Whereas, New York is especially proud of the individuals and organizations that share this same vision of providing opportunities for productiveness and employment; and

Whereas, Sandy Creek School District has been exemplary in cultivating and harnessing the strengths of individuals; and

Whereas, Sandy Creek School District is not distracted by the perceived shortcomings of one’s disability; and

Whereas, Sandy Creek School District instead recognizes and places value on one’s spirit, determination, and friendly and agreeable attitude; and

Whereas, Sandy Creek School District, understanding the rehabilitative benefits and self-affirming pride one gains from employment, hired Joshua Ward; and

Whereas, the wonderful progress of Joshua Ward is a gift to the school, his co-workers and himself; and

Whereas, the cooperative and caring nature of Joshua Ward brings great pride to his employer, community and state; and

Whereas, the Sandy Creek School District credits Joshua Ward for bringing honor and distinction upon the school district; now, therefore, be it

Proclaimed, that as a duly-elected member of the Assembly of the State of New York, I extend my best wishes and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of Joshua Ward and the Sandy Creek School District, the recipients of the Statewide & Regional Employer Recognition Award granted by Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Board of Regents.
