Blankenbush Welcomes West Point Cadets To Assembly Chamber

Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River) had the honor of introducing Cadets Nicholas Tyler of Adams and Brandon A. Lloyd of the Town of Watertown at the annual West Point Day celebration at the New York State Capitol.

“The North Country is particularly proud of our two young West Point cadets and their accomplishments,” said Blankenbush. “Cadets Nicholas Tyler and Brandon Lloyd exemplify what is best about our proud Ft. Drum military community. I wish them the best of luck in their educational pursuits and future military careers.”

Both Tyler and Lloyd are graduates of South Jefferson High School and are expected to graduate from West Point in 2017.

Cadet Tyler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tyler. His father at one time served at Ft. Drum. Nicholas plans to major in either German or Economics. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is a very active athlete.

Cadet Lloyd is the son of Chief Warrant Officer (CW) and Mrs. Greg Lloyd. His father is currently deployed on a tour in Afghanistan with Ft. Drum. Brandon has been assigned to Company B and is active in the Sandhurst Competition, which showcases military skills.

The United States Military Academy at West Point is the oldest continually-running military officer-training educational institution in the nation. West Point, a public college, has consistently been ranked among the country’s best higher education institutions. Notable alumni include presidents Ulysses S. Grant and Dwight D. Eisenhower, many generals, congressmen, governors and business leaders.
