DNA Databank Expansion Will Make Our Communities Safer
February 14, 2012
“With the passage of this legislation, New York leads the way in providing its families with a more accurate and effective criminal justice system. By expanding the list of offenses that require a DNA sample, law enforcement will be given an additional tool to catch and convict persons who commit multiple crimes."
“I sponsored this legislation because I firmly believe it will bring greater justice to our current system. By expanding our DNA criminal databank, we are giving our law enforcement a more reliable way to solve crimes. In addition, this bill ensures that there are proper procedures and safeguards to protect the innocent and wrongfully accused/convicted.”
